Using implantable drug delivery system and selective arterial intubation technique, 21 patients with advanced pancreatic cancer were treated with intraarterial infusion chemotherapy of ADM, DDP and 5-FU combined with intratumoral injection of 5-FU or anhydrous alcohol. Four patients had complete response and 7 partial response, and one of them underwent radical resection subsequently. The results indicate that intra arterial infusion chemotherapy combined with intratumoral injection may be helpful in increasing the chance of subsequent resection, and in improving the quality of life and in turn, improving the survival of the patients with advanced pancreatic cancer.
