摘要:
In the comprehensive clinical management of breast cancer, the emergence of multi-drug resistance often presents substantial challenges to effective drug therapy. Traditional Chinese medicine has shown great potential in reversing multi-drug resistance in breast cancer, but its application is limited due to the poor water-solubility and unsatisfactory targeting. This review summarizes the research progress in the nanoplatforms based delivery of active ingredients from traditional Chinese medicine, highlighting their potential in multimodal synergistic therapy to tackle multi-drug resistance in breast cancer. The review summarizes the recent research progress of nanoplatforms based delivery of traditional Chinese medicine and their combination with photothermal, photodynamic, immune and other therapies towards multi-drug resistance in breast cancer. This review analyzes the multi-drug resistance mechanisms in breast cancer and classifies the encapsulated active ingredients from traditional Chinese medicine. Further, the multimodal strategies for combining traditional Chinese medicine with photothermal, photodynamic, and immune synergistic therapy are updated. The review reveals that nanoplatform-based delivery of traditional Chinese medicine can enhance biocompatibility and targeting while mitigating systemic toxicity. And their combination with photothermal, photodynamic and immune therapeutics makes it more efficient to kill cancer cells, eliminate breast tumors, and enhance drug efficacy, finally tackling the limitations of traditional Chinese medicine towards multi-drug resistance in breast cancer. This review highlights the therapeutic advantages of nanoplatforms for delivering traditional Chinese medicine to tackle multi-drug resistance in breast cancer and provides new strategies for their further clinical applications.Copyright © 2025 Elsevier GmbH.
