Introduction The NCCN guidelines recommend routine laparoscopic-assisted colectomy (LAC) over open surgery for patients with colon cancer, citing reduced surgical trauma and enhanced postoperative recovery.1 However, LAC requires an auxiliary abdominal incision for specimen extraction and extracorporeal anastomosis (EA), which introduces risks such as tumor compression, mesenteric traction bleeding, and anastomotic twisting. Additionally, longer and less flexible incisions compromise the minimally invasive advantages of laparoscopy.
